Growing followers of Christ Jesus

Our Story

Dubbo Presbyterian Church began as a church plant in the Old Dubbo Court House in the 1870’s. Today around 500 people gather each week across four congregations at two locations — East Dubbo and West Dubbo — with another 500 connected through youth, kids, growth groups, and community programs. We're a mix of long-time Dubbo locals and newer arrivals, young families, retirees, people from all sorts of church backgrounds, and plenty who are exploring faith for the first time. We don't have a single senior pastor. Instead, a team of ministers lead together across all our congregations, each focusing on a different area of ministry. It's a team culture that runs right through everything we do, from our staff to our 190+ volunteers serving across ministry teams. Over the past five years we've seen real growth — not just in numbers, but in people coming to know Jesus for the first time. We're praying and planning for much more as we look to reach Dubbo and beyond. We want to see more and more people from Dubbo and around the world come to know Jesus and live their lives for him. We want people everywhere to follow Jesus Christ and be ready for his return. It’s a big vision. But nothing less is deserving of Jesus Christ.

To help us with this we have identified three key strands. 'Loving God, Loving the Church, Loving the World'

Loving God

The bible shows us the life that we were created to live. It's a life in perfect relationship with God and each other. Even though we don't deserve it, we get to experience the love of God that he would save and rescue us into his family.

In response, we want to delight in God and everything he's done for us, not just on Sundays, but in all of life.

We love to pray, bringing everything to our Father who hears us and is at work by his Spirit.

We love the Bible because it speaks to us with all the authority of God himself. We encourage one another to open the Bible daily, letting God's word shape our homes, our relationships, and our everyday decisions.

We love gathering on Sundays to sing God's praises, pray together, and sit under his word with clear teaching, encouraging one another to trust and live for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Loving Church

God calls us into his church family, a community where we grow together in knowing and loving Jesus. As a church we want to do everything we can to help each other follow Jesus and love others.

We gather each week on Sundays to be encouraged and challenged by God's word together.

We also meet in smaller groups in homes throughout the week — to pray, care for one another, and learn from the Bible together. We share meals, support each other through the ups and downs of life, and spur one another on in faith.

We love serving side by side — whether it's welcoming newcomers, running kids' programs, or setting up chairs — because working together for the gospel deepens our friendships and builds the church.

Loving the World

God sent his son Jesus into the world to die in our place, so that anyone who comes to him can have eternal life. And we've been given this incredible life-giving news to share with others!

As a church we want to do everything we can to help people come to know Jesus — in Dubbo and around the world.

This isn't just about speaking the gospel, but living it. Jesus said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35).

We want to work together: praying, speaking, loving, inviting and serving, to bring the news about Jesus to our neighbours, our workmates, and our growing multicultural community.

We try to make our church gatherings welcoming and easy for newcomers to feel at home.

What is Presbyterian?

‘Presbyterian’ is a word that comes from the history of where our church started. Today it means a few things.

The first is that we are deeply bible based.

We hold to a statement of faith called the Westminster Confession (1646), which summarises what we believe - the authority of the Bible, God's power and goodness, the sin of humanity in rejecting God, Jesus' death on the cross to save us, the need to turn to God for fogiveness, and the Church as the body of Christ.

The Bible is our ultimate source of truth, but a confession gives us something to check ourselves against.
Being Presbyterian also means our church is led by a team of elders who are elected and set apart for the spiritual oversight of the church. We love this team approach and try to carry it through everything we do — we don't have a senior minister, but a ministry team who work together.

Even though we are ‘Presbyterian’ we welcome people from all church & non-church backgrounds. We are a mix of people from Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, Catholic, Uniting, Pentecostal, even people from no church at all.

If you follow Jesus, or want to find out about him, you are welcome!
